Barcode: 41100031 Call Number: L-AC31A Material Type: Video -VHS Time: 190 min. Language: Chinese Description: This two part account of the Xi'an incident, a great historical event, took place on the morning of December 12, 1936, when two well-known KMT generals ordered their troops to storm Huaqingchi, Chiang Kai-Shek's residence in Xi'an, and put him under house arrest. Chiang Kai-Shek's policy was to use all his forces against the Chinese communists, which weakened the only effective resistance against the invading Japanese. The generals kidnapped Chiang in order to force him into a patriotic anti-Japanese alliance with the communists. As a result, the CPC and the KMT entered a phase of united action against Japan.
