His friends try to help him out by answering a personals ad for a correspondent in his name. He cannot write, so he dictates his letters to them, and they read him the mail he receives from Eva, who is teaching overseas. When Eva shows up at in his village one day, she is initially shocked to find that the man who sounded poetic in his letters is merely childlike.
