Description: In a small village in India Acharya Udupa, a Vedic scholar teaches a few selected aspirants. Also living with him is Yamuna, his young daughter, a widow, who is in love with the local schoolmaster. One night, during Acharya's absence from the village, Yamuna has an intimate meeting with her lover and becomes pregnant, and a target for the full, terrible fury of the orthodox society.
