The story is about the relationship between two brothers facing the accidental death of their common childhood friend. One day, Takeru, comes back home from Tokyo, where he has become a successful photographer, and goes hiking to a quiet ravine together with his older brother Minoru. A childhood friend Chieko comes along. However, Chieko suddenly fallns into the stream at the bottom of the ravine, after she confesses her wish to move to Tokyo with Takeru, when Minoru wasn't around. Is it just an accident? Or has Chieko been murdered? As the trial proceeds, and Takeru witnesses his brother's hidden personality as it is gradually uncovered. Nishikawa Miwa is a new name to watch in Japanese cinema. Though Yureru (a.k.a. Sway) is only her second feature-length film, the up-and-coming director is none other than Kore-eda Hirokazu's protégé. Produced by Kore-eda, Yureru screened at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, launching the young director into international limelight. Heartthrob Odagiri Joe (Shinobi) and Kagawa Teruyuki (Hana Yori mo Naho) star in this poignant psychological drama that explores the many facets of man's character. Mild-mannered Minori (Kagawa Teruyuki) runs a family gas station in Yamanashi, while his brash younger brother Takeru (Odagiri Joe) is a successful photographer living in Tokyo. When Takeru returns home, the two brothers and their childhood friend Chieko (Makimura Yoko) go hiking together. What starts out as a peaceful trip ends in tragedy when Chieko falls to her death. Is it an accident, or is it murder? With the cause of her death unclear, the two brothers are pulled into a court investigation in which secrets and true personalities are gradually revealed.
