Description: The girl in this little seen movie is none other than Italian superstar Claudia Cardinale, who answers a lonely hearts ad and comes to Australia to marry an Italian migrant (Alberto Sordi). Unfortunately his old-fashioned values, mired in an Italy that is long gone, clash with her more modern ways. Quicker than you can say 'mistaken identity', the film takes a turn, playing out as a farcical take on the migrant experience.
A Girl in Australia was one of many films that came out of Italy from the 40s right up to the 70s that dealt with the lives and stories of expatriate Italians.
