Tom Hanks stars as Flight Lieutenant David Bradford, a minister's son recuperating in a Jerusalem hospital. While there, he meets a sheltered Sephardic girl named Sarah. With war imminent, the two fall in love, but find they must fight a powerful enemy determined to keep them apart - her family. To remain lovers, the two will have to overcome centuries of tradition.
