Description: An interview with James Holmes by Ton Broos. Holmes, although born in the American Midwest, has contributed much to Holland's life of letters. Since he settled in Amsterdam in 1949, he has been publishing English translations of Dutch poetry. In 1956 he became the first foreigner to be granted the Martinus Nijhoff prize, the leading Dutch translation award. He has published three volumes of his own poetry in English. (language lab, 1984)
